While lockdown and quarantine might be the new normal for many people around the world, life still goes on even though we have to stay home. And that means loved up couples still wanting to drop to one knee and ask that all important question that unites two people in the ultimate declaration of love and commitment.

So, if you are planning to pop the question this winter but are stuck at home, here are some of Barkev’s favourite creative ideas for winter lockdown proposals that are sure to impress.

Breakfast in Bed

Wondering how to propose during lockdown without going too extravagant? Keep it simple with a beautifully prepared breakfast in bed. Hide the ring somewhere amongst the coffee, strawberries, fresh orange juice and flowers. And don’t forget to have a chilled bottle of bubbly waiting once you get that ‘YES’!

Treasure Hunt

This idea might take a bit of time to prepare, but with lockdown forcing us to stay home, one thing we do have is plenty of time! Create a treasure hunt comprising personalised clues that refer to special memories you’ve shared together, inside-jokes and romantic reminders of your love story. Next, get your significant other to search the house for clues, ending with you down on one knee, ring in hand and an important question to ask!

Bath for Two

It’s winter and the weather is cold outside. So instead of going out to propose, stay home and keep things warm and cosy by running your loved one a steamy hot bath for two, complete with bubbles, fragrant bath oils, flower petals strewn around the bathroom, Champagne on ice and candles for days! Just make sure you don’t drop the engagement ring in the tub before your partner has time to say YES!

Fine Dining at Home

Perhaps the two of you have a favourite restaurant that you liked to go to for date night before lockdown. Now that eating out isn’t an option, see if the place does delivery and recreate a romantic night out for two from the comfort of your own home. Make it special with fresh flowers, candles galore and of course a very special piece of jewellery to present your beloved.

Post a Letter

With lockdown forcing us to stay home, sending letters through the traditional mail service has seen something of a comeback. And nothing could be more romantic than taking the time to put your feelings on paper, with a handwritten declaration of your love. Address the letter to your partner, then make sure you are together when the letter arrives so you can be ready with the engagement ring once your beloved has finished reading!

Here at Barkev’s we understand just how special and important a proposal can be. Which is why we’re here to help you through every step of the engagement ring selection process.
