Celebrities behaving badly is certainly nothing new. Not too many days go by with a new scandal erupting out of Hollywood with sordid tales of cheating, lying and jewelry buying. Wait…jewelry buying? Yes. It seems that when you have an unlimited budget, the best way to avoid the wrath of your significant other after an affair is to buy her a ridiculously expensive piece of jewelry. Here are two examples of celebrity apology jewelry.
Kobe and Vanessa Bryant
If you believe the tabloids, Kobe has cheated on now ex-wife Vanessa many times. But when he was accused of sexually assaulting a hotel maid in 2003, he decided the best course of action for saving his marriage was to trot his beautiful wife into a jewelry store and buy her something pretty. The result of said shopping trip was an 8-carat purple diamond ring that cost a staggering $4 million. I hope that maid remembered to change out the towels.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
Justin Timberlake is known for being a ladies’ man, but having someone as beautiful as Jessica Biel to go home to every night will surely put a stop to his wild ways, right? Nope. Sources say that he has had at least four affairs with different women since he began his relationship with Jessica.
Apparently, none of those dalliances dimmed his views of Jessica and he proposed to her with a gorgeous 6-carat radiant cut diamond set in a black platinum setting with carved details all along the band. The cost of the engagement ring was $130,000.
It’s a good thing he is rich because, after his latest indiscretion, Justin felt the need to buy his number one girl something shiny to help her forget about the other women in his life.
He shelled out $250,000 for an amazing diamond necklace with matching bracelet. Tabloids say her family was thrilled by the purchase because it proves that Justin is finally ready to settle down. Really? Is that what it proves? Some would think it just proves he has a ton of money.
Surely, celebrity apology jewelry will continue to make the news. It might be hard to imagine a piece of jewelry being enough to make you stay in a relationship with a cheater. But, then again, you’ve never been given an apology of an 8-carat purple diamond.
